This was a summer full of great club activities. Certainly one of the highlights of the summer was the car camping trip to Great Basin National Park in Nevada. This spectacular mountain oasis in the middle of the West Desert was the attraction that lured people near and far, including Ruben Romano, who flew out from New Jersey to join us. The group claimed the summit of Wheeler Peak.

After that, it was time for some relaxation at the club pool party. In addition to swimming and eating, guests enjoyed free massages and were able to consult with a psychic. Special thanks go to Larry’s parents who graciously invited us to use their beautiful pool and patio – a perfect setting for the party.

Later in August, a group of club members went backpacking in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming. The group took an easy backpacking trail into some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the country.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13 – "CENTERPIECE", a GLCCU FUNDRAISING DINNER

Reserve this date! This year, the Lambda Hiking Club is participating in the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Utah’s CenterPeace fundraising event. In return for a donation, you will attend a dinner hosted by the club followed by a desert party hosted by the GLCCU at the Center. More details in next month’s newsletter.

 

CORRECTION: The dates of the Canyonlands Car Camping Trip were incorrect in last month’s newsletter. The correct dates are Sept 21-23.
