To a few, God is in a word.
To others, God is in an act.
To most, God is in a building.
To me, God is in Nature,
And to few realize that God created Nature.

Why the Lambda Club Exists!
By Sy Felt
The Lambda Hiking Club exists so we can enjoy the superb beauty and diversity of the outdoors with great friends all year round! I don’t know of anywhere else on planet earth where we could live and have so much, so readily available.
World renown for skiing, snow boarding and show shoeing, mountain peaks over 12,000 feet (Kings Peak topping out at 13,528), Timpanogos where you can see into five states, Colorado to the East, Wyoming to the North East, Idaho to the North, Nevada to the West and Utah by looking straight down. Southern Utah’s Arches National Park contains more natural arches than the rest of the world combined, bike trails everywhere and the distinct changes of the seasons which provides diversity in all the places we go.
Join us for this spiritual experience of savoring nature at it’s best, with good friends. Never done these things before? Well, come along for the adventure and we will assist you in preparing for these outdoor activities! If you already have experience with the outdoors, then we would appreciate your expertise in assisting new members in everything from choosing sunscreen, to how to dress and be comfortable for cold and hot weather events.
We have easy day hikes to get you started (1st Saturday of the month) car camping where you get to bring all the luxuries, more challenging day hikes (3rd Saturday), and backpacking. Something for Everyone. Please join us!
Getting into Shape?
By Randy Burks

Here are a few ideas for those who want to get in shape for a backpacking excursion. These suggestions are meant only as a guideline; consult a physician before attempting any strenuous activity.
>First- it helps to do a lot of day hikes (this should come as no
surprise) but try to take extra stuff in your day pack, such as extra water, canned food, or even rocks. Yes I know it sounds ridiculous, but the extra weight will help strengthen your legs and back for the big trip to come.
>Second – jump on a cycle or run with a group as much as you can. Start out slow
and simple so that you can easily succeed and jog in the early morning or late
afternoon. If you can jog with a day pack on your back then all the better.
>Third – STOP SMOKING!!!
>Forth- once you’ve mastered that, try hiking or jogging up
small trails on a regular basis.
>Fifth- Do sit-ups! This will strengthen your lower back, hips and abs for holding the
weight of your back pack.
We know that cardiovascular workouts are sweaty, dirty, painful, smelly, hot, muscle-straining, energy sucking, shirt soaking, hard, tough, grueling job, but it’s a must to prepare for a backpacking trip. If you work out now, rather than later on when you carry everything (except your hair dryer) into the forest on your back, it won’t be a nearly as painful experience as it could have been. So the next time you see someone bringing canned goods with them on a day hike – it will actually make some sense in that wonderfully bright mind of yours (because you have secretly done the same thing). SSh-sh! You’re in training!
