For all outdoor activities please bring the essentials: water, sack lunch, hat, sunscreen, and hiking boots.

 

PRIDE DAY

Pride Day was a lot of fun and a big success for the Lambda Hiking Club. We had a great entry in the parade: Joe’s red truck, tastefully decorated with rugged mountains and a buff and cheerful Randy. We passed out beads along the parade route, which was very popular, especially with children.

We also had a booth where we passed out information and chatted with friends and told newcomers about the club. Over 60 people added their names to our email list! We welcome all of you and hope that we will see you again soon on one of our activities.

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

  • July 27-29 (Fri-Sun) Car Camping in the Great Basin National Park. Our summer car camp will be held in this alpine oasis in the middle of the West Desert. Added attraction: Lehman Cave.   • Aug 16-19 (Thu-Sun) Backpacking in the Wind River Mountains. Come join the club for a few days of backpacking on moderately easy trails through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on the planet.

  • Sept 28-30 (Fri-Sun) Fall Car Camp. We haven’t decided on a place yet, (although Island in the Sky in Canyonlands National Park has been proposed) but reserve these dates for the final car camping trip of the season.

    MONTHLY PLANNING MEETING

    We are seeking out new people who would like to be a part of the committee to help plan and organize events. Please join us if you'd like to become a committee officer.

    We  meet on the first Monday of the month (July 2 this month) to plan future club activities and to conduct other club business. We meet at 7:30 PM at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center at 361 North 300 West. Everyone is welcome.
