UTAH GAY RODEO
The Lambda Hiking Club is providing volunteers to help with parking, ticket taking, and cleanup at this event. We will also have a booth at the rodeo. If you want to volunteer to help out, contact Joe at 495-1121. Even if you can't volunteer, be sure to show up for this event, held Saturday, June 2 at the Utah State Fairpark, entrance on 200 North and 1000 West. It was a lot of fun last year, and will be even better this year!
PRIDE DAY
We will have a float in the parade and a booth. If you are interested in helping out with this event, please show up at the monthly planning meeting Monday, June 4 at 7:30 PM at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center at 361 North 300 West. Or just join us for the parade as either a participant or a spectator.
WALK FOR LIFE
This year, the club will participate in this fun and very worthwhile fundraising event sponsored by the Utah AIDS Foundation. Registration begins at 7:30 am at the Salt Lake City County Building. The walk begins at 9:00 am. Individual registration is $15. For more information, see
www.utahaids.org or call 487-2323.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
Get out the hiking boots, daypacks, and camping equipment! We have planned a whole summer full of fun activities. In addition to our regularly scheduled hikes on the first and third Saturdays of the month, keep the following dates in mind:
July 27-29 (Fri-Sun) Car Camping in the Great Basin National Park. Our summer car camp will be held in this alpine oasis in the middle of the West Desert. Added attraction: Lehman Cave.
Aug 16-19 (Thu-Sun) Backpacking in the Wind River Mountains. Come join the club for a few days of backpacking on moderately easy trails through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on the planet.
Sept 28-30 (Fri-Sun) Fall Car Camp. We haven't decided on a place yet, (although Island in the Sky in Canyonlands National Park has been proposed) but reserve these dates for the final car camping trip of the season.
MONTHLY PLANNING MEETING
We meet on the first Monday of the month (June 4 this month) to plan future club activities and to conduct other club business. We meet at 7:30 PM at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center at 361 North 300 West. Everyone is welcome.
