PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Saturday, May 5
Emigration Canyon: Ridge trail from Little Mountain.
Monday, May 7
Planning Meeting: 7:30 PM at the GLCC. 361N 300W.
Saturday, May 19
Timpanogos Cave. Bring warm clothing and a flashlight for the
cave: Entrance fee: $6.00 per person
plus $3.00 per car
June 2:
Donut Falls
June 2-3: Utah Gay Rodeo
June 10: Pride Day
June 16: Walk For Life
For all outdoor activities please bring the
essentials: water, sack lunch, hat,
sunscreen, and hiking boots.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES
BEGIN!
Its time to put away the skis,
snowshoes, and ice-skates and get out the hiking boots and daypacks. We have planned a whole summer full of fun
activities. In addition to our regularly
scheduled hikes on the first and third Saturdays of the month, keep the
following dates in mind:
June 2-3 (Sat-Sun) Utah Gay Rodeo. The club is
looking for a few volunteers to help with parking, ticket taking, and
cleanup. In return, the Utah Gay Rodeo
will allow us to set up a booth free of charge. Contact Joe at 495‑1121 to volunteer.
June 10 (Sun) Pride Day. We will have
a float in the parade and a booth. If
you are interested in helping out with this event, please show up at the
monthly planning meeting Monday, May 7 at 7:30 PM at the Gay and Lesbian
Community Center at 361 North 300 West.
June 16 (Sat) Walk For Life. This year,
the club will participate in this very worthwhile fundraising event sponsored
by the Utah AIDS Foundation.
July 27-29 (Fri-Sun) Car Camping
in the Great Basin National Park. Our summer car camp will be held in this
alpine oasis in the middle of the West Desert.
Added attraction: Lehman Cave.
Aug 16-19 (Thu-Sun) Backpacking
in the Wind River Mountains. Come join the club for a few days of
backpacking on moderately easy trails through some of the most spectacular
mountain scenery on the planet.
Sept 28-30 (Fri-Sun) Fall Car
Camp. We haven’t decided on a place yet, (although Island in the Sky in
Canyonlands National Park has been proposed) but reserve these dates for the
final car camping trip of the season.
MONTHLY PLANNING
MEETINGS
We now meet on the first Monday of the month (May 7
this month) to plan future club activities and to conduct other club
business. We meet at 7:30 PM at the Gay
and Lesbian Community Center at 361 North 300 West. Everyone is welcome.
