Kids Who Explore CEO shares snow hiking tips in viral video

Passionate adventurer Adrianna Skori merges her love of the outdoors with her journey to motherhood within her Blog and affiliated social media site, Adventures of Adrianna. The site highlights her nature hikes with her baby and toddler as they hike, travel and explore the Canadian Rockies. She writes on her website that “the adventure begins when you wrap your babies.” But it doesn’t stop there. She is also CEO of Children exploringa outward-oriented Canadian-based organization to create inclusion and diversity, and foster a love of the outdoors in children and their parents. Cold weather and Canada go hand in hand during the winter, making it harder to get outside with the little ones. Skori shares a reel on her Instagram feed with her top tips for walking in the cold with her little ones.

Many mothers hesitate to take their hiking for children in the snow. But for the sake of everyone’s mental health, sometimes it’s enough to get out and spend the day exploring nature. As long as it’s not too cold, it’s a great way to go on an adventure if you know where to start. But that begs the question: how do you keep your little one warm? Skori’s top tips are:

  • Provide ice cleats.
  • Check the temperature.
  • Lay your baby down (starting with the base layers).
  • Stay indoors if it’s too cold.
  • Always plan your route.
  • Take short hikes.
  • Make sure your baby stays dry and nourished.

Her favorite piece of advice to share with other moms is, “Goodbye expectations!” Hikes and all other adventures outside the home will go much better if you don’t have expectations hanging over you.
