To celebrate its LGBTQIA2+ fans, Behavior Interactive has now presented Dead in broad daylightfirst gay character by: David King. Having joined the game as a DLC pack in 2o17, King is best known for his high-risk, high-reward style of play, described by the developer as a “hot-tempered thug with a penchant for a good morsel, whose time as a collector’s debt has brought pain both internally and externally. In addition to confirming the news, the studio is also placing King at the center of its latest tome, DEVOTION, which gives players “a deeper look into a new side of the character of David”, elaborating on his backstory and personal relationships.
“One of the cornerstones of this community are our LGBTQIA2+ players, who continue to elevate Dead in broad daylight with their tireless passion for horror, games and of course – horror games. The fact that our character roster openly had no confirmed LGBTQIA2+ representation was something we were determined to change,” reads a blog post from Behavior Interactive. “After consulting extensively with the GaymerX organization, who shared their expertise in integrating LGBTQIA2+ themes into established games, we felt confident in the direction we’ve chosen.”
Dead in broad daylight is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
Elsewhere in the game, Sony has reportedly asked developers to make time-limited demos to complement its revamped PlayStation Plus service.
