Tips Wanted to Identify Suspect in Attempted Sexual Assault of 16-Year-Old in Lincoln Acres

Authorities contacted the public again on Monday for help in identifying a young assailant who jumped on a 16-year-old girl in a neighborhood near the Sweetwater River last week and attempted to assault her sexually.

The assailant, who appeared to be in his late teens, tackled the victim shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday as she walked the 2900 block of Prospect Street in Lincoln Acres, just north of Chula Vista, according to the San Diego Country Sheriff’s Department.

After the girl managed to fend off the attacker and run away, he chased her, pulled her to the ground again and attempted to sexually assault her. At that point, a witness intervened and the attacker grabbed the victim’s mobile phone and fled east to a gas station on nearby Sweetwater Road.

The victim was slightly injured in the attack.

The assailant is described as a Latino, approximately 5-foot-11, 180 pounds with short, curly hair. At the time of the crime, he was wearing khaki pants and a beige shirt with a torn collar.

Anyone who can help identify the attacker is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 858-565-5200.
