The Hillsborough County Hike begins Tuesday, November 1 and ends Tuesday, March 28, 2023.
The annual event, which began in 2016, encourages people to get out and explore at least eight Hillsborough County parks or preserves. The hiking trails are based on a list, which changes every year.
“For the first time, the range includes Egmont Key State Park, which is accessible only by water, and Ybor City Museum State Park, which connects the trail history of the city of Ybor.”
What do those who participate get in return? The chance to win a patch, cane tag or pet bandana.
Hikers do not need to be Hillsborough County residents to participate; however, participants must register, track trails traveled, and complete an online end-of-hike form.
New to hiking?
If you are new to hiking, we recommend hiking on a neighborhood park trail and then progressing to conservation parks and nature preserves. When hiking, always bring:

- A compass or GPS
- Plenty of drinking water
- Appropriate footwear
